Remove Before

*Swimming in pools, hot tubs, hot springs & oceans

*Exercising

*Sleeping at night

Keep It Dry

*Wearing copper in the shower/bath & when washing your hands is perfectly fine, being mindful to dry your pieces thoroughly is what makes the difference

*After washing your hands, thoroughly dry your hands & wrists, paying close attention between jewelry & your skin; pat the jewelry down with a clean lint-free towel

*Never leave your jewelry in the bathroom

*Allow lotions & other body products to absorb into your skin. There are chemicals in beauty & cleaning products that prompt oxidation & will accelerate the deterioration of your copper jewelry

Clean

*There are many different types of liquid & cream jewelry cleaners. Be sure to choose one that is meant for copper jewelry. We recommend Flitz Polish Paste, it cleans & polishes. https://www.flitz.com/flitz-polish-paste/ Use a microfiber cloth & follow manufacturer's directions.

*If your unique piece(s) have semi precious gemstones, we recommend using Flitz cream or liquid cleaner for diamonds & gemstones. https://www.flitz.com/jewelry-care-kit/ Use a microfiber cloth & follow the manufacturer's directions.

*Do not use liquid jewelry cleaners if your piece(s) have delicate materials, like leather/suede or waxed/knotting cord. Instead, use a microfiber cloth with a small amount of cream cleaner, concentrating on copper components only

DIY method:

  1. Place your copper jewelry into a glass or plastic bowl (don't use metal)

  2. Fill the glass or plastic bowl with white vinegar, enough to cover jewelry

  3. Add 2 tablespoons of salt to the vinegar. Let sit for a few minutes but not longer than 20 minutes. Gently use a soft toothbrush for crevices

  4. Be sure to rinse thoroughly, using a small strainer for rinsing can prevent losing jewelry in the drain; dump out the solution & rinse the bowl

  5. Fill the bowl again with mild soap(we like Dawn) & water to wash the acidic solution off the jewelry; rinse well * don't forget to use the strainer again while rinsing; be sure to thoroughly pat dry with a soft lint free cloth.

  6. Use a microfiber cloth & Flitz polishing cream to bring the luster & protectant layer back to your custom piece *Remember, be gentle when buffing

Store

*Let your copper jewelry air-dry completely before putting it away.

*Never store jewelry while it’s still damp

*Using the included jewelry polishing cloth after you remove your copper jewelry is a good way to keep it shiny & clean

*Seal your copper jewelry in the clear airtight bag with the black anti-tarnish tab, then in the velvet bag provided to fight humidity and oxidation
